Why is it necessary?
Regular dental examinations and x-rays provide an opportunity to ensure your overall oral wellness and help to prevent future dental complications from arising.
Prevention is always better than a cure and a routine examination allows our dentists to keep an eye on the condition of your teeth, soft tissues and entire mouth. It also gives us an opportunity to guide you with correct brushing techniques and provide advice on any other additional helpful measures you can take to achieve your optimal oral health.
What you need to know
A routine dental examination and x-rays appointment has two parts to it:
-
A full dental check-up of your teeth, gums and overall mouth condition
-
Taking standard dental x-rays of your teeth and jaws (recommended once every 18 months – two years)
Most patients will also opt to have their dental clean along with their routine examination.
Your appointment will be anywhere between 15-30 minutes depending on the dentist and their preferred methods and techniques.

You may be asked about your dental and medical history, your usual oral care routine at home and if you have any concerns or problem areas.
